Writing and not tweeting
Aug. 18th, 2011 09:40 pmJust a couple of notes.
Upon further consideration, fanfic-writing brain is working on a patch for the end of Allison and Lillia. As in actually writing a 'fic. I'm not sure that I could write something as light and freewheeling as A&L if my life depended on it, the source probably won't attract a ton of traffic (like FY will these days), and the original novels may well have obsoleted me before my 'fic's daddy (the anime) was born, but in the absence of a novel translation, I'm having a good time. If I keep at it, I might even get to be the first A&L fic on Ao3.
I have also recently been realizing that I really don't like Facebook. Maybe it's that I'm an introvert, but getting this flood of fragments from everyone I "friend" for any reason overwhelms me and just turns into noise very easily, and I don't really feel a safe bubble of stability around my own utterances. I much prefer the slower-paced, more thoughtful coziness of LJ/DW. (So, having thought this, I disabled Facebook Connect from my LJ.)
Twitter is good for what I use it for, namely a workaround for the NYT's paywall so I can keep reading Paul Krugman. If I actually followed any number of people, though, it would just overwhelm me and tempt me to fritter away time clicking links, which I have enough trouble controlling without the added temptation.
