I'm back! (With a painting.)
May. 8th, 2011 06:42 pmI'm back! Reading Deprivation Week is over and I survived, w00t! It was harshly illuminating at times; on Friday I found myself sitting there thinking of playing Aria (back at a scary part; still need to kill Balore) or doing another layer on my painting (see below), but both of those were kind of intimidating, and I just knew any other week I would have avoided both and checked politics blogs instead. (So yeah, I'm hoping not to go back to that; more power to 'em and all but I don't think they're good for me.)
But yes, Friday I did a painting!
Actually it was planned as Artist Cards from the start; I have a pad of Canson "Acrylic" paper (which warps, BTW, I had to iron it when I was done), figured out I could fit a grid of nine ACs one it, so I just drew the grid on, did my thing, and cut it up after. It was pretty much a "mess around and hope something cool happens" kind of painting, where I tried tricks of texturing the paint with cling wrap and salt and didn't always get them right, but I still like what happened, ended with black splatters to set it all off. Here's the result, firstly all in one piece as painted, then cut up into the cards:

But anyway, I caught up on my LJ and DW reading lists (shy as always about commenting, but I read them). In that way it's good to be back, but like with the politics stuff, I'll still have to see how I re-incorporate reading (and movies, etc) after the experience. I'm glad I did it.
