Leaving room for freedom and joy?

Usually I have a knee-jerk against people complaining about political correctness because I've seen so many people take that angle in resentment at being expected to not be assholes, but this guy is coming at it from the progressive side and I can sympathize with a lot of what he's saying --- especially since my creativity-brainweasels love to take cheap shots like "you're not a good enough feminist and you shouldn't tell this story unless all your creative decisions are the ideal ones in a feminist analysis" and such (and I try to tell the brainweasels that they are the bad feminists for trying to silence a woman, but they are impervious to logic as I'm sure you all know).
