News Avoidance and other notes

foxinthestarsI'd been getting closer and closer to it before the news came about RBG, and now I am in full news-avoidance mode.
But yeah, I said I was crawling back and then vanished for two more weeks. I've been having some depressive stuff going on, feeling lonely but getting irritable in Zoom get-togethers, so while I've long been terrible at opening up on social media, maybe that's something I should try harder on for self-care.
Fandom stuff:
Still into The Untamed despite the depressive stuff being a bump in the road. This canon really does lend itself to AU-writing benders, doesn't it? I up and decided a while back, "I need an AU where most of the awesome women live," a plot bunny obligingly hopped up and now I'm... (checks) 18k words into it? Hopefully I can get back to it and finish it up before too awfully long.

fixedthatforyou_fest sounded fun, so I'm keeping an eye on the now-open prompt post. Nothing up my alley yet but it has until October 3rd.
And I signed up for the Multi-Fandom Postcard Exchange because that sounded fun, too.
Last but not least, Yuletide season is beginning, and especially since I'm currently willing to binge media to cope with life, I've been enjoying the Fandom Promo Post. Favorite finds so far include Chinese f/f webnovel Female General and Eldest Princess and Chinese period mystery/political drama Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty.
(Yes, The Untamed has gotten me more interested in Chinese stuff generally. I've also been listening to The History of China Podcast. In terms of production quality, so far it's not as awesome as The British History Podcast but hey, it's about China.)

I love the Yuletide Fandom Promo Post (though every year I feel anxious about not recommending my own fandom(s) well enough.)

Oh, forgot to mention (although you maybe saw), I did rec something on the Yuletide Fandom Promo Post: Merc StoriA, a 12-episode fantasy anime that's kind of a travel-anthology, and the arcs get surprisingly deep for as much of a kids' anime as it is.
