Merry Christmas, everyone!

(Yes, I have definitely been a stranger and I need to get back to posting...)

Part of my excuse for my absence is that I was rather exuberant about Yuletide this year (read: it ate my brain). Well, exuberant by my standards; I'm not a speed-writer so I didn't contribute a ton of stuff, but I'm very pleased with what I did.

Anyway, my gift haul report:

My biggest gift I got early, from my parents: a new mattress. I swear it seemed like I had just gotten the old one, but it was wearing out, had springs poking me and everything, so I was like "Well, THAT won't happen this time!" and picked an all-foam model.  It feels rather different but very nice.

The other big item from my folks was a portable Blu-Ray drive! Now I can watch movies on my beloved (but optical-drive-less) laptop, and this is my first time having Blu-Ray capability. (The drive will write, but the Blu-Ray media just doesn't seem cost-effective yet, except maybe in special cases.)

And I got not one, not two, but THREE Mystery Science Theater DVD boxes! Two of them I had run into months before at a new-and-used-media store where I happened to be with my Dad and I pointed them out to him, so I knew they were coming, but happily I forgot long enough to be happily suprised when I opened the box. The third was a total happy surprise, a brand-new set from my Big Sis and Sis-in-Law (Thank You, Jessie!! Thank you, Jo!!)
Between the three boxes I got these episodes:
— Vol 2:
- Angels' Revenge ("By this time my lungs were aching for booze.")
- Cave Dwellers (a classic!  "Use the handrails!  I invented those for a reason!")
- Pod People ("IT STINKS!")
- and Shorts vol. 1
— Vol. 6:
- Attack of the Giant Leeches (A Danger To Myself and Others)
- Gunslinger ("The Pony Express: when it absolutely positively has to be there in three or four months or so.")
- Mr. B's Lost Shorts
- and Teenagers from Outer Space ("TOR-CHAAAA!")
— And Vol. XXX (Not like that!  Although this one does contain "Outlaw"...):
- The Black Scorpion (Huh, this one's not on YouTube.)
- Outlaw (Tubular Boobular!  Sadly, though, filmed years too early to remark on the background murals of Voldemort in drag.)
- The Projected Man ("He's gonna come out half man, half wrist watch.")
- and It Lives By Night ("I'm leaving you for Dr. Mustache-Love!")

And I got plenty of candy and cookies and peanuts.

Plus, of course, a Yuletide fic!  My still-anonymous writer gave me a fic based on my delightfully-obscure Japanese music video.  Thank you!

Hope all of you who celebrate the day are having a lovely Christmas!

Sounds like quite a good Christmas!

Mine's been delayed until the weekend due to weather, so it's just been me and the cats enjoying my two days off from work. But that's pleasant, too.
