OMG you guys. I have a draft. An actual complete draft of the epic Natsume Yuujinchou fic. It came in around 28,000 words, and I want to go over it once before posting, but I should be able to show it off within a few days. Could still use work in some places, but that's why it's called a draft, and I'm giving myself a month to revise it...
Also, today's Unlimited episode, because it vexed me.
They needed another episode for that timeskip, or at least to budget the time better, or something. Seriously, loaded milieu aside you have this whole happy story about transcending what holds you back and being true to yourself and finding your people, and then in THE LAST THREE FREAKING MINUTES you remember you were supposed to shoot the protagonist in the head, turn him into an edgy anti-villain, and explain a brain in a tank. ::headdesk::
Hyoubu offing one guy under extreme duress was seriously not what we were promised. I also love a good self-fulfilling prophecy as much as the next gal, but it's such a well-worn trope that I was sitting there like "That's it? Come on, there's gotta be more to it than that!" and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING with it. ::headdesk more::
Other than that, it was awesome as usual.

28,000 words...

Date: 2013-02-26 10:58 pm (UTC)Re: Unlimited, the thing is it wasn't a twist! The last couple of episodes were a flashback, and the headshot-villainize was what we went into it on the promise of explanations for, but (after giving us something otherwise good) they just timeskipped to the heavy lifting at the last minute and dashed it off haphazardly before previewing the next episode back to present time.
Other than this moment I do really like the show, and I can hold out some hope they'll revisit the rushed stuff later. (Word is that it's getting a manga adaptation, maybe that'll do it better, at least.)
