Step away from the story prompts

foxinthestarsAs mentioned recently, I'm planning to do Yuletide this year, but I need to resolve not to mess with the New Years Resolution stuff in the meantime. I have my own fish to fry... (Plus the one that's tugging on my hem took a turn for the kiddie porn and I can't help fearing that that would be ill-advised...)
My own fish --- that last Allison & Lillia 'fic --- is frying, but slowly. It's going to come out longer than I originally expected, but I remember when I wrote Hand-me-Downs having no idea how long it was going to stretch out to when I should by all rights have predicted something longish, and maybe it's a similar kind of character-driven thing that has to unfold at its own pace... (Or maybe I haven't got through the "pushing it up to and onto the ramp" part.)
