Return to the Castle
Apr. 23rd, 2011 10:42 pmAgain I haven't been posting much...
I've started working through "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron; just recently I expressed distrust of self-help literature, but I'll make an exception for this one. Last weekend my "Artist Date" was going to a movie theater for the first time in years---seized the day while something was showing that looked good and saw Source Code, which I liked a lot.
This week, though, one of the exercises was "list twenty things you enjoy doing," with special emphasis on ones you hadn't done in awhile, and I realized it had been months since I played Castlevania, so yeah... The book hasn't got me writing or drawing much more just yet, but it has got me readdicted to Aria of Sorrow, my second favorite of the 2-D adventure style Castlevanias, after Symphony. I ended up abandoning my Hard Mode game 'cuz it was hard (I'm a wimp that way---really, I think I could kick ass at video games if I didn't get so rattled when I died; in Aria the only difference AFAIK is that the monsters do a lot more damage on Hard mode but that's enough sometimes), started a new Normal game and got hooked on that.
Playing it again also got me thinking about the fanfic universe I invented and haven't really done anything with. (I even abandoned the private summary blog-project, damn, almost a year ago now... Maybe I should try to get back on that...)
I also bought myself and my sister each a copy of Okamiden, but Chibiterasu might have to wait while I neurotically farm monster souls...
(Still working on Fushigi Yuugi Mirrorverse 38; hope to have it posted in the next couple of days.)
