Portrait of Ruin notes
Apr. 7th, 2010 01:15 amGood thing #1: I beat Death this evening. I consumed all my potions (got caught in the chains and didn't manage to get out in time once; owch), but I made it.
Bad thing: I did it on the second try---not because he killed me, but because the Spirit of Light spell locked up the game for the second time. Internet research shows that a lot of people have had trouble with various subweapons and spells doing that on a none-too-consistent basis, so I'm just going to conclude that my copy throws a fit about this one and swear off using it. Pity, too, it's a pretty neat spell...
Good thing #2: I have discovered a pre-Gold Ring fountain of money. I tend to be the poky little puppy playing these and take frequent item-drop-farming excursions, but I'd been putting off the Eye for Decay from the Peeping Eye because it was so rare. But I thought, well, I'll just find a good spot and mark it on my map, once I found it I figured I might as well try it, and it turns out that with Charlotte's best Luck equipment and Luck Boost spell---I don't even have a Thief Ring yet---the drop isn't as rare as all that, and there's a spot where farming them is ridiculously easy*. Oh, and you can sell an Eye for Decay for 12,500G. Time-consuming, a bit, but deliciously effective. Should I fight this urge to get myself a Master Ring? Should I fight this urge to get myself everything Vincent sells?? (After fixing his *SPOILER* didn't even get me a VIP card, there is a certain enjoyment to taking him for all this cash...)
*(Down from the third warp in City of Haze, going in and out the left exit that leads to the room with the rail-cart puzzle; enter the room with the Peeping Eye and have Jonathan chuck an axe with R, or just jump and stab; lather rinse repeat.)
