DW Invites; Curse of Darkness ranting

Note to all my LJ friends; I have some Dreamwidth invite codes now, if anybody would like one. Just LMK.
Okay, now that I've finished that Curse of Darkness watchthrough and taken a few days to digest it, I can rant about it a bit. Again, this just concerns the story, since that was what I was really interested in and I didn't play it myself at all, but... Thinking about it, I have concluded that this game's story is essentially bad fanfiction.
I mean, think about this; we take one of the foundation-stones of the series mythos, say, Castlevania III, and we lever original characters into it who have these special powers that are totally badass, right? They were really important, although the game didn't tell us that. And in this sequel we'll have Trevor Belmont get pwned by our evil inserted character so the good inserted character can save the day instead. Worse yet, we will retcon it so that the heroes of CV3 were not entirely successful in their quest, but our inserted hero will take care of it for real! (However, our guy showing up Alucard directly would be going a little too far, Sypha would punt the idiot ball, and we're not sure what Grant would be doing, so they're just, er, somewhere else while this is going on, yeah...) Also, our hero will end up with a love interest who looks just like his dead lady love whom we couldn't be arsed to actually write or show (not even a flashback!), we'll try for heroic archaism in the dialogue and blow it, and the villain is a Crazy Evil Gay. (Part of what gets to me is that if they were going to pull that offensive crap, Isaac could at least have been a sort of guilty pleasure, fun to watch, love to hate type of magnificent bastard, and I have this strange feeling like they were going for that and it mysteriously failed to come together. All the ingredients were there, just somewhere they forgot to add a catalyst and it fizzled out, leaving only an annoying, offensive jerk who pissed me off at the writers on multiple levels.)
So yeah, bad fanfiction.
