I got a PSP today. A local Wal-Mart had a good deal on the Hannah Montana pack, so I bit (for thirty dollars less than the plain core pack, I get a shiny purple PSP with a memory card; taking a game I don't want is not a deal-breaker, although if Jessie was serious about swapping for the purple PSP, I think I would be just as happy with plain black). I still need a game I actually want for it, tho. The GameSpot next door had Lumines, but I decided to hold out; I'm visiting Jessie tomorrow and can try the game store near her. Of course I want Dracula X Chronicles, but being that I already have a game of Symphony going, I might not consider it so urgent; I just want something to play right now, basically.

I did fire up the Hannah Montana game just to try it out. For me, a non-fan of the franchise, it's like some easy rhythm minigames with annoying flavor-fill around them and music that isn't very good; not a total loss though. As for the PSP itself, I was afraid I might not like the disc-accessing and load times and such, but it turns out there's a rather endearing side effect: I love my DS, but it doesn't purr. The thing almost feels alive in my hands; I like it.

BTW, I'm still working on watching that playthrough of Curse of Darkness; I guess my main problem with it (from my passive position) is that I have yet to encounter a likable character. I saw Julia take Hector's hand and make a grab for it, but she didn't quite catch it. (She even tried to make the witch-hunting-history-sausage thing a little better by remarking that it was worse to the west; not much but better than nothing.) It doesn't help that the writing is pretty laughable; heroic archaism is a very easy thing to screw up, and the payoff is so slight that frankly I wish people wouldn't even try it much of the time. I've also seen Trevor once so far, and I knew he wouldn't be my Trevor, but oy geez... If either he or Hector had refrained from being a stupid ass in that scene, a lot of muss and fuss could have been avoided. As it was...
T: Are you the Devil Forgemaster??
H: (Well, I'm one of the two, and the other one has been going around being all evil and pissing people off, but that couldn't possibly be relevant to this situation so I'll just say...) Yes.
T: I KILL YOU!!
::savage beatdown ensues::
T: Wait, you're too much of a pathetic weakling to be the guy I want. ...Oh, hey, there were two of them, weren't there?
H: ...... >_-;;
T: I gotta find the other one; bye!

But on second thought, I shouldn't say there haven't been any likable characters; some of the Innocent Devils are pretty adorable.
