More watching video games...

foxinthestarsI'm not this far on Portrait of Ruin yet, but I'm glad someone did this so I don't have to get myself killed trying to see it. ^_^;; Usually I use Jonathan more---I'm a sucker for things like skill-grinding*---but we can just leave him out of that one...
*It does frustrate me, though, that I can't skill-grind and money-grind at the same time. I almost miss how it was in SotN when heart candles were heart candles and money candles were money candles...
The other thing I'm working on watching right now is Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I rented that once and it drove me up a wall in record time, but I could never fully shake some fascination with it. See, the thing is, I hate brain-teaser puzzles. I mean really really hate them. I was a gifted/talented kid and all too often teachers seemed to take this as an invitation to throw that kind of thing at me, and I mainly just remember it as frustrating and humiliating. With Professor Layton, the art and the story and that kind of thing is pretty neat (although the plot is seeming a bit transparent; I might still get surprised...), but if there's a game and you hate the basic gameplay, the rest isn't going to save it. Even just watching it, all the puzzles annoy me, but thinking, as I admittedly have, that this would be a nice game if it wasn't for all the annoying damn puzzles, well, it's like saying Castlevania would be a nice game if it just didn't have that whipping monsters foolishness. It means it's not your thing. But someone else has played it so I don't have to. -_-;;
UPDATE: I got hooked and finished watching Professor Layton, and the plot was just about as transparent as I thought. Still cool, though.
