I also wanted to mention this, despite some fear that my dwircle/f-list would just polarize on it, but... What do you do when your artistic motivation is undermined by feeling like a bad feminist? It's the "OMG, I stuffed (or am planning to stuff) a woman in a refrigerator!" thing, ....

Here's what I think: stuffing people into fridges is a trope that creates victims of both sexes (see TVtropes for examples) and is not inherently anti-feminist; what makes it problematic is that it is that most frequently it's female characters dying to advance the stories of male characters.

Since you're conscious that you're using the trope in its problematically-common form, and have clearly thought careful about its necessity to the story, going ahead and using it is not OMGbadfeminist!!!11. And if you're still feeling like a Bad Feminist, then make a note that later on you ought to write a story with the gender-swapped version of the trope, to maintain parity. :)
